Maes Madog Reviews

We all loved it, plenty of space in the cottage, very large covered outside eating area and beautiful garden with stunning views. So very peaceful, all the beds are comfy and the log burner was so cosy at night. We loved the hot tub and the games room, the pool table brought hours of fun for all we visited quite a few places and it was so lovely to get back to the peace of the cottage to wind down, we will be back

Absolutely fabulous. Were really enjoyed our time at maes madog. Cant recommend it enough. The house was beautifully maintained, with many original features. The surround area was brimming with a treasure trove of adventures and memories. Big thank you to Jane and Huw who made our stay so special. Diolch yn fawr. Mae Maes Madog yn lle hyfryd. Gwelwch ti eto. Hwyl.

Comfortable, clean and well equipped. A really nice place to stay in a good location
Lovely clean property with a surprise addition of an outside kitchen. Spacious and well equipped. We had everything we needed. Perfect location with so many things to do in the local area and walks literally from the doorstep. Couldnt have been better!
My friends and I loved our stay here. It was a perfect size for all 8 of us and is really well looked after. The outside kitchen ended up being where we spent most of our time because it was so cosy even when it was raining outside. The hot tub and poolroom is also a nice touch. The place is only a few minutes drive from places like betws y coed, zip world and there are plenty of waterfalls and walks nearby. The only issue with the place is that the main shared bathroom didnt lock which was a little awkward with my friends but everything else is perfect.
Nicola
Lovely cottage, pictures dont do it justice. The outside area is really lovely and was very popular with our group booking. Would stay again and have already recommended to others
Lovely property in a nice location. Everything you needed was supplied. Only one complaint the access road to the cottage needs attention. However we had a lovely family holiday and the welcome tray was appreciated. Thank you Jane and Huw.
Duncan
Hot tub was a lovely start to the day for us. Great to have a King size bed and spacious bedroom. The sittingroom lights were low...and we kept forgetting ! A super quiet spot for a holiday.
Lovely cottage, well equipped, superb location. Would certainly recommend.
We had a really enjoyable week at Maes Madog. The property was clean and comfortable with excellent facilities and the location was perfect for our adult family group. The double and king sized beds were comfy but one of our group thought the super king and twin beds were far too soft.
Deborah
Wow what a lovely home from home. We have just returned from a fabulous week at Maes Madog. Four Adults and three children. Great cosy warm cottage with ample room for us all and everything spotlessly clean. Lovely welcome gifts were much appreciated. Fantastic hot tub which we used each evening to chill and relax and an unexpected superb new BBQ and seating area. The boys loved the pool table. We loved the location and had some great day trips including Llandudno and Snowdon, Bala lake and the Llyn peninisula. Lovely owner Jane is just a phone call away to deal promptly with any queries or issues. We would dearly love to return one day. Such a peaceful idyllic location. Thankyou.
Graeme
We had an excellent 4 night stay. The cottage is really lovely, warm and comfortable and the newly built, covered seatingBBQ area and fire was a bonus. It's so peaceful, you really feel like you're in the middle of nowhere even though Betwsycoed and all its charm is only a short distance away.
Joanne
Exceeded our expectations in setting and location. Toasty warm interior with lovely added modern touches to compliment the traditional aspects of the farmhouse. The hot tub and covered outdoor seating area was exceptional and very much appreciated but we missed our dogs!
Elaine
We had a lovely two night stay in the large Cottage which sleeps 8 , the hot tub was perfect especially with the lovely countryside views , the pool table was fun too. The cottage was lovely and clean and had all the equipment needed for cooking etc . There was a brand new BBQ area with seating under cover which wasnt mentioned in the cottage info , the BBQ was gas The photos advertised dont do the Cottage justice , they could do with being updated The double bedroom downstairs was a very small double but it does have its own toilet and shower , the twin room and double upstairs have to share and the very large bedroom upstairs has its own We went as a family myself and husband , 3 sons and two of their partners , we will definitely go again , the communication with the host was very good too and she left us a lovely welcome gift of wine, Prosecco , welsh biscuits and chocolates, Thankyou
We had a lovely stay at Maes Madog, absolutely stunning location with rolling countryside. Very peaceful. Good location for the Forest activities, picturesque villages and a 40 minute ride to Llandudno. The cottage was clean and cosy, with everything you should need for a comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend, we hope to return soon.
Great four night stay at the cottage, stayed with four adults and two kids all though would comfortably sleep eight people. Location of the property is great, it is on a private lane and just over a mile out of BetwsyCoed, plenty to do in the local towns and coastal areas. The cottage itself was clean and spacious, had plenty of towels and all amenities as described. Topped off by the hot tub in the large garden with views over a small valley. Will be back.
Lovely welcome from the owner at the start of our stay. Lovely views, lovely property and near many attractions
Maes Madog is in a lovely situation with great views and splendid bird life. The old farmhouse has been extended with a modern kitchen, and when the heating failed it was a cold week with snow in April! the owner was helpful and ensured the issue was fixed swiftly. Where we felt let down was in the description of the en suite in the upstairs double bedroom, which clearly stated there was a WC when in fact there wasn't. This led to a lack of privacy which was not ideal in a multigenerational holiday. As is often the case in holiday homes there was no food storage space other than the fridgefreezer, this is a common complaint. Overall we were happy with the accommodation and enjoyed our stay, and the hot tub was a great success and so well maintained.
Excellent cottage in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed the pool table and hot tub! The log burner was a challenge to start with even though we ourselves have one but we eventually found some dry wood and got it going! We were a group of 8 and we all had enough space to be together and to have a successful long weekend. There are some gorgeous walks and plenty of places to explore..
Amelia
Beautiful private property with everything you need, a very well equipped kitchen & a cosy living room & lovely hot tub to relax in. The hosts were fantastic with great communication & we will definitely be returning!
Joanna
Dressing gowns for the hot tub would have been nice and a mop and bucket that we could have used during our stay to keep the floors cleaner. Knife steel would have been good to sharpen the knives. The free logs was brilliant and very convenient. Location was superb and the cottage was very comfortable considering we had full occupancy lovely, spacious, warm and comfortable. Ideal place for a base to explore Snowdonia.
Absolutely beautiful place, we really enjoyed our break here, perfect in every way. We will all book again at some point x
Stephen
This was a fantastic cottage to stay in with a group of friends. It was very comfortable and well equipped. We loved the rural setting and it's a great location to explore and walk the northern Snowdonia National Park from. The hot tub and outdoor seating area were fab. We would love to go back sometime in the future.
Matthew
Lovely tidy and well equipped house, with great facilities. Local pub has shut down, but we just went in to the local town anyway which has plenty of options on pubs and restaurants. Great weekend trip. Thanks
We thought the farmhouse was lovely really loved the pool room and hot tub ... We thought the farmhouse was lovely really loved the pool room and hot tub There was everything we needed to have a great holiday I would have maybe liked a cosy lamp in the room , there was a lamp but no bulbs were in it and also maybe hooks behind bathroom doors to hang towels up , but on the whole it was great
We had a wonderful time at Maes Madog and enjoyed exploring the area. We loved the hot tub and pool table and the photos on Sykes didn't do it justice as there have been a number of improvements including a new ensuite and canopy over the hot tub. The only negatives we have are concerning the listing as the pub within walking distance closed some years ago and the property has no tumble dryer, which would have been useful as we had wet and muddy mountain bike gear to wash and dry.
The cottage is only a few miles from BetwsyCoed and ideally situated to explore North Wales. It had everything we wanted and suited our needs. Overall, we had a lovely week despite the rainy weather for the first few days. We spent most evenings playing in the garden or in the kitchen playing card games. It was also great to come home after a long day out and relax in the hot tub. The welcome gifts were a nice touch and appreciated by all. Would recommend to family and friends and possibly return in the future.
Would recommend. Ideal, peaceful location.
Excellent holiday cottage, warm and spacious with plenty of room to spread out but also to come together to enjoy a great holiday.
A super weekend stay! Only wish we could have stayed for a longer period. Everything we could have wished for and more. A beautiful cottage full of charm and charisma. Thank you for allowing us to share it.
Kathryn
Excellent holiday cottage, warm and spacious with plenty of room to spread out but also to come together to enjoy a great holiday.
Fabulous cottage in gorgeous surroundings Can't fault it and have already booked for next year
Stephanie
The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been perhaps the inclusion of a small welcome package including milk, bread etc. It has not detracted from our enjoyment of the property or our time there which was delightful.
Lovely, lovely converted Farmhouse in idyllc setting. Sat in the hottub looking out at the Milky Way. Perfect.
Very clean well equipped cottage. Perfect setting and well placed for visiting many of the main attractions in North Wales. Only thing that would have made it better is if there were some sun loungers to be able to lie in the garden, which was glorious in the perfect weather we had. Also anyone over 5ft needs to be very wary of the very low doorway between living room and games room. there were many , many bumped heads throughout the holiday.
We enjoyed every minute of our holiday, would definitely go back again
Christine
Great cottage, with stunning views, ideal for a family or group of friends.
